I made it to Montana a 2 hour flight to Denver, a 10 hour drive up, 10 hour drive back with only 4 hours of sleep in 48 hours, but it was worth it! The music, venue, interaction and company (Ali and Dennise) made this my favorite show yet!
Pre-Show:
While Dennise and I were parking the limos pulled up. We got out of the car and bolted towards the arena. Everything was so small that it was only 30 feet so we were able to see Lindsey and Stevie arrive. Lindsey was already out of his limo when we got there and he was hugging Cory. It was so cute. You can tell theyre really close. After they chitchatted, he went in. A couple minutes later Stevies limo arrived. Karen got out, followed by a portable boom box, a keyboard, Stevies dogs and finally Stevie. She had on a black blouse and black pants with her hair straight down. Lindsey, of course, had on his usual undershirt. Mick and John were already inside and rode in some kind of luxury SUV cars rather then limos. Theyve been doing that at all the venues, so it must be standard. I wonder why they dont want a limo. Chris was there and rode around on a little Scooter and Jess lit up a cigarette and rode in his movable chair. Security was so lax at this point we were allowed to stand there and walk around the grass (30 feet from them) without anyone saying anything.
Onto the concert:
As soon as the venue opened we went in and claimed the spot right in front of Lindsey. We ended up standing in front of this nice man and woman. They thought we were all crazy to have come from so far (Texas, Colorado and Idaho) so they didnt complain about us standing in front of their seats. Plus, we helped the guy get his tour book signed so it all worked out! I asked Karen if she could get Stevie to sign my BN album but she said she cant do that. Later, maybe 15 minutes before the show Cory came back out and I ask her. She checked her watch and looked like she wanted to, but she said he didnt have enough time. The concert started and pretty much immediately Ali and I got lots of Lindsey love cute smiles, the lyrics from lots of songs and his general flirty behavior. The two ladies on my left kept nudging me each time he'd look at Ali or me. It was funny how excited they got for us but they had obviously never been to another show so they didnt really understand. The Chain and Dream went as planned. All the standard behavior was there and both seemed to be in great spirits. At the beginning pf IKINW, Stevie went over to the side of the stage and seemed to sit down until she needed to singmaybe the altitude was getting to her? During Peacekeeper Lindsey finally realized that Ali, who has been in front of him the past few shows, was there again! He loved it! At the beginning of SHN, Stevie turned her mic towards Lindsey and she gave him a sideways glance with a very sultry expression very sexy! At the beginning of SYW I reached for my camera and grabbed what I thought was the camera. All of a sudden Lindseys vocals dropped out of the monitor. I looked down and sure enough Im holding the chord labeled Lindseys mic. Stevie and Lindsey looked at each other confused. I QUICKLY plugged the chord in and sure enough his voice was back. It was a good thing I didnt grab the guitar chord which was next to it that would have been even more obvious. During SYW they were quite flirty. Lindsey got right up in Stevies face and kept leaning closer and closer and closer. Lindsey vocals were really high on a few songs SYW was probably the most noticeable though. I was the Come girl. I wanted to take a picture of him singing it to me, but I thought it might be a little strange to pull out a camera then. Stevie dedicated Landslide to us and her best friend in 7th or 8th grade, Debbie, who drove up from Denver. Landslide was really sweet. They did the hand clasp, Lindsey kissed Stevies hand and she put his hand over her heartbut they didnt let go yetthey continued holding hands (behind his guitar) until the audience settled down and she started singing. It was very cute! Say Goodbye was heartbreaking. He got a little confused during the introduction and went straight into the learning how to forgive yourself part and just started the song. Lindsey ALWAYS has the most intense look during the time within a time part. Those specific lyrics must touch him the most because he always gets the most emotional during that part. Afterwards they did the picky wave, with Stevie initiating it. While I love this song but it never sounds good that close to the monitors. There was way too much distortion to hear and appreciate the beautiful harmonies. Beautiful Child is my favorite song on the tour so, of course, it was amazing. Stevie said it was a tribal song but you had to be there to get it Guess so, because I had no idea what the hell she was talking about. BC tribal song? What? Lindsey did his standard audience stare and mouthed some of the lyrics. During GDW there were some guitar problems. Lindsey went over to the right side of the stage and began playing a few feet in front of Ray. He stayed over until the end of the song when Ray rushed out to fix a chord on the guitar. At the beginning of ISA Stevie and Brett were standing on the side of the stage pointing and laughing at something off to the side. Stevie and Lindsey were very energetic during Tusk. Playful and happy during both the fighting parts and the dancing part. At the end, when Lindsey was up by Micks drums and drunk girl climbed up and ran towards Lindsey. She was flailing her arms and actually got pretty close to him before security grabbed her and pulled her off stage. Lindsey first noticed her as she was being pulled off stage and laughed like, how did I miss this. After the song a police officer rushed through the front row looked like someone was in trouble. Lindsey got upset during GYOW and started motioning something with his hands. Im not sure if the lights were blinding him or if he was upset not very many people were playing the guitar.
Encore (and the odd part of the show):
During WT Lindsey used an oxygen tank for a few seconds. After the drum solo Lindsey very deliberately walked up to Ali and gave her his towel. She didnt ask for it but now she owns her third or fourth one. At the end of the song Lindsey starts counting off and then he started singing WITHOUT Stevie. She made it out on the stage for the last few lines. It was really unexpected and she didnt look happy when she came out. During the band introductions Stevie was talking to John and not really paying much attention to Lindsey or Mick. She clapped for Lindsey but that was it. During Stevies introduction, Lindsey turned his back away from to the audience and blew her multiple kisses. His had stayed close to his mouth so this was not something for the audience. Then he did the pinky wave to which Stevie just stared at him, wide eyed, raised eyebrows and shrugged. Something was really wrong. At the end of DS Lindsey was staying a little further away from Stevie so I didnt think theyd do the pose. He turned around and saw that she was doing it. He slowly made his way towards her (like he was wondering if he should do it) and gently rested his head on her back/shoulder. Lindsey was really sad during GB. He looked down and mouthed the lyrics and glanced at Stevie. He mouthed the last few lines to himself with his head down. When Lindsey came over to sign autographs I asked him if he could get Stevie to sign my BN album. He told me he couldnt do that so he grabbed the album and signed it again. He really took his time and did a nice signature for me, but I already had his autograph. After he signed it he said, Hey I already signed this and gave me a puzzled look. Oh well, what can you do? Stevie walked by Ali and me and made eye contact and waved to us which was neat. During Micks ending comments, Lindsey stood with Stevie but he didnt have his arm around her like usual. Also, during some song the lady next to me was holding up a cell phone. Lindsey kept giving her a puzzled look. In the middle of the song he walked up to her and started shouting hello, hello, hello, hello into the phone. Ali and I were cracking up. Overall this concert was hilarious. So many strange/funny things happened - there was never a dull moment.
After concert:
We knew they were flying out so we ran out to the limos. I was in a skirt and it was really hard for me to run up the bleachers and keep up with Dennise and Ali. We made it out in time and saw everyone leave. Stevie came out and she was so happy. She waved to everyone and smiled a lot. Lindsey came out, talked to Cory for a second and went to his limo. He didnt wave and he seemed upset. When the limos were pulling out, Stevie rolled down her window and stuck out her head and waved to us again.
