I went to see Lindsey's READING, PA show on Friday, October the 10th!! He was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! He really gives it his all!!!!!!!!!!!! I attended the concert with one of my sisters and her boyfriend. They were sitting in the 7th row together and I was in the FRONT row (center section) ~ on the end. I had originally purchased a 5th row ticket, but then about a week or so after I was able to get a hold of a 1st row one, which is a first for me. The front row ticket was VERY costly, but well worth it to me!! My parents ended up later paying the cost of the ticket for me and made it an early Christmas gift. With the exception of God giving my son to me, I can honestly say that this is the BEST gift that anyone has ever given me!!! Anyways, we left for the concert at 3:00 and got there around a little bit after 7:00. So, it took us about (4) hours of driving to get there. (We listened to my Best Of Lindsey cd's on the way down that I had made.) The show was supposed to start at 8:00, so we made it with plenty of time to spare. I went ahead and purchased (signed) copies of two of his solo cd's ~ Out of The Cradle (my favorite) and Gift Of Screws and a photo keychain. Shortly after, we went to our seats. I couldn't believe how close I was to the stage ~ inches!!!!! In fact, I was in awe during the whole show. I had to keep pinching myself to make sure that it wasn't all just a dream (lol). There's nothing like being in the front row!!!!!!! Everybody needs to experience it at least once in their lifetime. About (20) minutes after 8:00, Lindsey and his band came out on stage and we all went wild. He started the show out with Great Day and ended it with Time Precious Time.
He sang a total of (20) songs, which I listed at the end of this review. Almost half, were Fleetwood Mac songs!! He performed every song REALLY well, but the stand-outs for me were: Love Runs Deeper, Did You Miss Me, Never Going Back Again, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Big Love, Come, World Turning, Trouble, Tusk, Go Insane, I'm So Afraid, Second Hand News, and Go Your Own Way (my favorite song of all-time). He received several standing ovations, which included Never Going Back Again, Come, and I'm So Afraid. With the exception of getting choked up and teary eyed during the second song (Love Runs Deeper), I was VERY surprised that I was able to keep my composure (for the most part) during the whole concert. I thought for sure that I would be crying during the whole thing, so I made sure to bring plenty of tissues with me (lol). The highlights for me would be when he did the majority of his I'm So Afraid guitar solo DIRECTLY in front of me!!!!!!! Another one would be when I was able to touch his leg and boot during Go Your Own Way!!!!!!! A bunch of us (including myself) rushed towards the stage when Go Your Own Way started and stayed up there until the concert ended. (My sister said that it looked like the first few rows were all up there standing by the stage.) I was standing right up in the front and that's how I was able to touch him so easily. I would have loved to have been able to touch his hands or play his guitar, but I wasn't close enough. I was just out of reach. (It was VERY frustrating!!!) I guess that I should be grateful to have had the chance to touch him, at least. Even if it was just for a few seconds worth. After that song, he came out and did an encore, which consisted of four songs (see the listing below)!! At one point during the encore, he threw a few picks out to us, but for some reason, it was only in the one direction. He also threw a towel that he used to wipe the sweat of of his face out to us, but once again, not in my direction. I would have LOVED to have gotten that towel!!!!!!!!!! I was REALLY hoping that he would throw another one out to us, but he didn't.
In between some of the songs during the concert, he would talk to us. At one point, someone from the audience yelled something out to Lindsey and in return another audience member told that other person to shut up. I'm sorry, but I don't remember Lindsey's exact words (believe it or not), but he joked and said that this is like being at a Republican convention (we all laughed). Someone then asked him who he was voting for and he said: I'm not telling. He then asked them who they were voting for. He then said that it really doesn't matter who wins because they're all the same ~ they all come from corporate money. (I totally agree with him.)
With the exception of some very annoying audience members and the fact that I wasn't able to meet him after the show, I had a GREAT time!!!!! My sister (Jocey) really enjoyed the show too. (She likes him, but not as much as I do.) She told me that Lindsey made eye contact with her during one of the songs. In fact after the show, she purchased one of his signed solo cd's. I would have loved to have been able to make more eye contact with him during the concert. He tended to mostly look towards the one side or straight out into the audience. At times, his eyes were completely closed. However, I did manage to briefly catch his eye at the end of Never Going Back Again (and a couple of other songs).
Speaking of meeting him ~ Believe me when I tell you that I REALLY tried!!!!!! (It seems that he left right after the show was over.) I tried a few different things, which included going to the hotel where I was told that he was staying, but nothing panned out. I brought a box of sealed chocolates and a heartfelt belated birthday card (attached to it) with me to give to him. My plan was to give it to him toward the end of the concert around the encore, but that plan backfired. Like I said above, after Go Your Own Way was over, everybody (including myself) continued standing up by the stage and there was a ton of us up there. I didn't want to risk losing my place up in front to go back to my seat for the candy. So, to make a long story short, I tried to get it to him after the show instead. I ended up giving it to the head of security to give it to him. He told me that he would give it to the production team who would then give it to Lindsey. Whether he received it or not, remains a mystery. I'm REALLY hoping and praying that he did and that he will contact me somehow. (I made sure to include my name, address, e-mail address, etc... on the candy box and card.) Wishful thinking, huh? If anything comes of it, I will let you guys know. You know, it's REALLY heartbreaking and frustrating to not be able to meet him!!!!!!!!!! I have been a loyal fan of his for so long and I would LOVE to just be able to shake his hand or get a quick hug from him. Most importantly though, I would LOVE to get the chance to tell him face to face how much he and his music means to me. He has been such a big part of my life for so long and to be able to let him know all this would mean the world to me. (It would be a dream come true for me.) Hopefully someday that dream will become a reality. It takes lots of luck and the perfect timing to meet him and both were not on my side, at least this time around.
Unfortunately, (during the third song), I was only able to take one photo with my sister's digital camera. My sister is in the process of e-mailing me the shot. Shortly after I snapped the photo, one of the security guards (who was a jerk) came over to me and said not to take anymore photos. I was REALLY pissed. I would have liked to have been able to at least get a couple of more shots in. They even told us at the front door that we could take some photos, but just not too go crazy with it. My sister's boyfriend took (3) photos with his cell phone, but once again, I'm waiting for them to be e-mailed to me, so I'm not quite sure yet how they turned out (for sure).
Well, I think I about covered pretty much everything. There are only a few days left of his very short tour, so if you have the chance to see him yet, don't pass it up. He is a MUST SEE!!!!!! I have been a HUGE fan of Lindsey (my fave), Stevie, and F.Mac for over (30) years now and I have seen them several times over the years. This concert is among one of my all-time favorites!!! It is surely a night that I will never forget. ~ Jackie (lindseyfan77)
